Back in ze stewzio, playing with ceramic burnout pieces made during the residency that are too brittle and delicate to handle, by coating them with hardeners and urethane plastic.
Last day of the residency! It’s been amazing working alongside this fantastic group of people. Thank you @sklein79 @suzannedittenber for organizing and bringing us together.
Burnout drawings with porcelain @watershedceramics
I have been away for almost a week now for a summer residency in one of the most beautiful places in this country, burning the midnight oil alongside 15+ amazing women, painting, building, laughing, crying.
Yesterday, just before leaving for my summer residency, I tried out some new arrangement ideas for these lil guys I’ve been making.
Finishing up the 10th one of these large collages in my “(Un)Earthly Delights” series, before heading to @watershedceramics summer residency next week.
It’s been super fun making these for @seattleartmuseum ‘s SAM Night Live event #samnightlive coming up in a couple weeks..
It took me over 1.5-2 weeks to move 5+ years worth of work and studio equipment, while purging things I don’t need and pondering over why I keep the things I keep…but my new studio’s all set up now!!!
🤣👋please beware of a long armed gaysian during this artist talk..you might get poked lol 👉👈
For the last week and a half or so, I’ve been working with this new batch of pink, toned somewhere between dismally Bismol pink and Baker-Miller, against circa 1950/60s mid-century "you better stay home and cook with the pyrex I bought you" domestic PTSD green..
Spent all morning working on exhibition images and docs in preparation for my solo show at @kc4culture this July.
When does our sense of “morality” become so inflexible, hardened, and imprudent to the point where we cannot imagine any longer?
My studio these days looks like a giant Lego box, and I love it! 😂 🪐🍡🦚🎍🪸🌈🧊🧩🗽💎🏺💊🧸🪩
